Jo Sallins~Educational Programs~ The "Music Appreciation Program (M.A.P.)" "Songs of Change" ~Positive change through Music~ The "Freedom 2 Create" ~Exploring Improvisational Concepts~ Jo Sallins aka Mr. Kool myspace.com/josallins youtube.com/josallins cdbaby.com/josallins
The "Freedom 2 Create" ~Exploring Improvisational Concepts~ PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Have you ever seen anyone play "air guitar", posing in the stance of their favorite musician as they imagine their fingers playing at lightning speed with technical precision and great spirit?
The reality of playing an instrument with various challenging techniques and abilities to build incredible solos truly is: "FREEDOM 2 CREATE". By consolidating an array of musical concepts, I've developed a program that will improve (with hard work of course) any musician's technical and improvisational skills. This program will, one measure at a time, allow musicians to discover the art of listening, satisfaction from practicing and the joy of creating music. ("FREEDOM 2 CREATE" Is Designed for Arts & Music Collectives, Music Camps, High School And Colleges With Jazz Programs.)

"FREEDOM 2 CREATE" ~Exploring Improvisational Concepts~
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
SOME HELPFUL HINTS:
- Review the contents of this program with your teacher and discuss your approach to learning his material.
- Ask your teacher to record exercises 1-6 and the two Hotlicks at a slow tempo so that your can hear what they sound like and play along.
- Try to learn the material on the piano (Exercises 4-5-6). All musicians should know how to play the piano.
- Create a diversified practice schedule: Learning new music, creating music, technical exercises, perfecting your performance style, and listening to different styles of music (remember to take breaks).
- words and music in this program are just a guide. My advice to anyone reviewing this material "Keep what you like, change what you don't".
